Lymphatic Drainage is a specialised type of medical massage. It help to treat lymphedema, in which lymphatic fluid collects in certain areas of the body because it cannot drain away effectively. Specialised movements in areas without swelling will make space for excess fluid to flow away from the congested areas.

Lymph Drainage aims to improve the flow of lymph fluid to reduce swelling.

Lymphatic Drainage  is a gentle treatment intended to encourage the natural drainage of the lymph fluid which carries toxins out for elimination. This improves the function of the Lymphatic System and alleviates symptoms of:

Post-Surgical Swelling, Auto-Immune Disorders Like Crohn's disease,  I.T.B, Fibromyalgia, Post Operative Trauma and Oedema, Sports Injuries, Plastic Surgery swelling and Bruising such as in Liposuction, face lifts etc).

My Session  promotes general relaxation, general detox, skin detoxification,  reduced swelling and pain and helps to speed your recovery time.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage sessions are customised to each client's needs:

Immune system and lymph drainage

The lymphatic system plays a key role in the body’s immune defenses.

Lymphatic fluid flows through lymph vessels, which connect lymph nodes. As it passes through the lymph nodes, white blood cells trap and destroy harmful particles, such as bacteria. Lymph fluid contains proteins, Vitamin D, salts,  glucose, fats, water, white blood cells, old viruses, old hormones, dead cells. Lymph Drainage stimulates the immune system into action and so does exercise.

Blood in the circulatory system moves quickly, lymphatic fluid moves slowly.  Decreased flow is due to carrying higher waste proteins, swelling occurs because proteins attract surrounding fluid, toxins sit around for longer causing tiredness, feeling heavy or unwell while the body tries to find its balance again. There are many reasons for higher protein waste to occur like surgery, parasites, tumours, high protein diet and over exercise.

Did you know  Lymph Fluid carries our Vitamin D.

A good reason to have Lymph Drainage is for Recovery. For example  Post Covid Recovery .

Lymphatic Drainage usually forms part of a treatment program health experts call decongestive lymphatic therapy (DLT).
